Team Refresh Austin
Bee Cave Public Library is proud to have been selected to participate in this year’s Accessibility Internet Rally for Austin (AIR Austin). Sponsored by Knowbility, a national non-profit dedicated to promoting barrier-free information technology, AIR Austin pairs teams of designers and developers with area non-profits to create accessible, well-designed websites in one day of friendly competition.
The library was paired with Team Refresh Austin, an outstanding group of professionals including Abbas Amirabadi, Sarah Heath, Ryan Joy, David Lee, Paul Menard, Ginny Min, Tommy Morgan, and Tim Thompson. Through their efforts, the Bee Cave Public Library website received an “extreme makeover,” giving it a new look and feel, making it more accessible for people with disabilities. Now, our website offers improved features, built with accessibility in mind, that will enhance our mission to provide information and enhance lifelong learning for all in our community.
Team Refresh members logged countless hours to help create a vision for the site and to develop mock-ups of our navigational needs. On the day of competition, team members had only eight hours in which to create the code necessary for this entirely new website. Thanks to Knowbility, AIR Austin, and the time, talent, and efforts of Team Refresh Austin, the Bee Cave Public Library now has an exciting new website that greatly improves access to information for people with disabilities.
